I just got this after pre-ordering the Ask-A-Ninja DVD:
Dear Richard,
You have chosen to risk life and limb to pre-order the Ask A Ninja Volume 1 DVD. You have earned Film Baby’s eternal respect for your obvious bravery.
A messenger just tip-toe’d over to the Ninja’s office and whispered to him in his sweetest voice that you’d REALLY like one of his DVDs. He said to tell you that he’ll send it to you, and he looks forward to killing you soon. And then he killed the messenger.
Provided the Ninja doesn’t kill US first, we’ll ship your DVD the moment it arrives at our warehouse. We’ll send you another email to WARN you that a NINJA is on its way to your house. You’ll be hearing from us again shortly. Until then, perhaps you’d like to browse our catalogue of ALL INDEPENDENT films, docs, shorts, instructional videos, and features. Browse here:

To describe my life as hectic recently would be a severe understatement. Why does everything happen at once?
I’ve got a load of new pics on my flickr and I’ve got a load more on the way from Rally GB (in Wales, which I have to get up for at 6am 3rd Dec.. SUNDAY!) and the special stage in the Millennium Stadium (2nd Dec), as well as more from Ohio and Niagara which I’ve also yet to make a post about.
Saw Tool on Thursday (30th Nov) in Cardiff and they weren’t as good a second time around. We managed to get to the very front despite not being really early and I can’t honestly put my finger on what the big fuss is about. I still prefer being further back; at least that way I’d have gotten to see the laser show, in full, and wouldn’t have had to put up with over-zealous marshals/bouncers, teeny-bopper-metal heads and general dip shits (You may think I’m intollerant of others at gigs, but when I’m there to experience the music live I want that experience pure. Not affected by some idiots with an inferiority complex, who want to be centre of attention). Plus when you’re 6 feet from the speaker the music gets drowned into sheer noise and bass. I don’t mind it loud, I enjoy it loud, but there’s a limit to when distortion sets in. I prefer their old stuff to their new album, when experiencing it live. They miss out on some great tracks (Parabola, Hooker with a Penis to name a few) and the mood of the old albums is lost, somewhere.
Made a mammoth effort to go up to Leeds on Friday (1st Dec) which has killed me off entirely. Unfortunately DragonForce didn’t live up to hype as they were poorly engineered and failed to attain their albums crazy guitar-ness. Some of the tracks went well and were thoroughly enjoyable, but the most were fucked up or were so drowned out by the drums, so you couldn’t attribute notes to any other instrument. It all came through as random noise.
The first support was pretty decent but the second lot weren’t for me. Even if it’s heavy, it’s got to be music; not noise for the sake of angst. The evening was made better by generally cool metal heads (as opposed to the Tool gig), groupies falling out of their corsets on the balcony and random shaved headen women with an attire for something out of D&D roll-play. I’m talking a make it yourself dress with facial glitter: the works.
