Quake Soundtrack: NIN
Ξ May 11th, 2006 | → | ∇ |
Yea, the Original noise from Quake. It’s like being back in 1999 again listening to original NIN stuff, you know, the progressive industrial metal sounds, not the less than fantastic stuff from With Teeth.
It’s not like other rock/metal which gets you high, it actually leaves me with a degree of subdueness but with a feeling of readiness, whilst quietly smiling to yourself. It’s more of a feeling and an experience than an enjoyment of the music, compared to other audio.
I got the Quake 3 soundtrack a while back, and each track is distinctively core-metal, without the progression, industrialism, or real rawness. It’s like a different phase within a familure state of being. Im dying to find the Quake 2, or even the Doom 3 OST, fearing it is some nuggest of musical euphoria I’ve yet to expose myself to, like this turned out to be.
I highly recommend NIN fans seek it out and experience it.

Some good anime OSTs have been released from Nipponsei recently: I highly recommend the xxxHolic intro/movie soundtrack and the Mushishi OP: The Sore Feet Song, by Ally Kerr. Hell it’s not like I can buy it in the west anyway.
And I’ve also found the Silent Hill art and music DVD. Dunno how that’s gonna turn out but I’ll let you know when it arrives. It looks pretty sweet although I can’t read the Japanese on it, but it has a DVD’s worth of stuff from Silent Hill’s 1, 2 and 3.
