So it looks like I’m off to London

Got an offer for the PhD in “Novel Raman Spectroscopy for the determination of bone quality” and accepted this morning. Now I just have to find somewhere to live in Middlesex, find a car, move out there, learn how to do actual Raman spectroscopy, rather than just theory, learn everything to do with bones and it will be fine and dandy.
I hate looking for places to live, it’s like going shopping: something no man should have to endure. What makes it worse is that because I live the other side of the country I have to actually phone up people to talk to them about their place, before I get there. Needless to say I’ve totally avoided that so far and have resorted solely to the solace of the interweb, but just got bored and ended up watching TV and filling my time with menial tasks. This was inevitably followed by the conversation with my mother about “did I phone these places today”, to which I gave a half assed reply about “being busy” and ended up getting the lecture about how “I’m old enough to do these things myself now” and how “I need to get off my backside because things won’t just fall into my lap”. I know she’s right, but I’m too used to actually ignoring her advice until there’s no other option.
